Our heart, our life – this is our new Miyawaki forest 🌱🌍🫶

This year evosoft’s GoGreen team planted a Miyawaki forest consisting of nearly 400 plants from around 10 different species. The company once again joined forces with 10 Million Trees, a nationwide civil tree-planting organization committed to mitigating the climate crisis through community action. One of the foundation’s key objectives is to improve Hungary’s natural environment by planting at least 10 million trees with the help of volunteers – roughly the same number as the country’s population. 🌱🌍 🫶

This year the GoGreen team and the foundation worked together at Graphisoft Park, enhancing the courtyard of REAL School Budapest. They created a heart-shaped ❤️ Miyawaki forest: a special, small-scale yet extremely fast-growing mini forest made up of native plant species. The essence of a Miyawaki forest lies in dense, multi-layered planting (including ground cover, shrubs, and trees) using species characteristic of the local natural forest ecosystem.

The benefits of a Miyawaki forest include the following:

  • it can reach a level of maturity in 10–20 years that would otherwise take 100–200 years🌱

  • it consists of fast-growing species 🌱

  • it develops into a self-sustaining ecosystem 🌱

  • it’s more resilient and absorbs carbon dioxide more effectively 🌱

  • it significantly increases biodiversity 🌱

  • it improves the local microclimate 🌱

  • and it’s especially effective in urban environments, where even in a small area can have a significant ecological impact 🌱

‍evosoft is deeply committed to sustainability and sustainability-related initiatives. So much so that sustainability – along with our responsibility toward the environment and future generations – has become one of our key strategic priorities.

‍evosoft’s GoGreen team regularly organizes sustainability and environmental protection programmes, with a strong focus on awareness-raising and community building. Through these initiatives, we aim to highlight the importance of biodiversity, livable cities, sustainable thinking, and both individual and corporate responsibility in protecting our future.

This year the GoGreen team has already organized a seed exchange event, accompanied by an awareness-raising discussion for colleagues about how to plan a home vegetable garden and how to plant and care for different crops. This programme will soon be followed by our seedling exchange initiative.

Later this year, the GoGreen team will once again organize the Bikers’ Breakfast initiative, promoting cycling as a sustainable mode of transportation and highlighting the importance of physical activity.

In the summer, the PET Cupwill take place, a multi-day volunteer program during which participants travel by boat to help clean up Lake Tisza.

This year GoGreen will also collaborate with the Jane Goodall Institute. For two weeks, we will collect old mobile phones at evosoft. These devices contain rareearthmetals that are often mined in regions of Africa inhabited by gorillas, with mining activities frequently threatening these great apes. With the support of the foundation, these valuable materials will be recovered and recycled from the donated phones.

We will soon share more updates about these programmes.

Until then: Let’s GoGreen, evosoft! ❤️🌱🌍
