Three companies, one shared superpower: the MicroGrid Pilot
There is the future of energy management on the implementation table
We are delighted to share the results of a joint pilot project that we are all very proud of. This collaboration between Siemens Zrt., evosoft and SLR Solar represents not only a successful project, but also clearly demonstrates how technological and professional cooperation, where the strengths of all three partners come together, is shaping the future of energy management.
The MicroGrid pilot proved in a real-life environment that the integration of modern energy generation, storage and charging is already a viable, tangible and commercially relevant solution today. The outcome of the joint work of the three companies is an integrated MicroGrid system that combines photovoltaic energy generation, energy storage, smart charging and local/cloud-based control within a scalable architecture that can be easily tailored to customer needs.
The pilot was implemented at the SLR Solar site, built on Siemens hardware and evosoft developments.
This reference project is outstanding because, under real operational conditions at a live site, we demonstrated that the full integration of energy generation, energy storage and electric vehicle charging is not only technologically feasible, but also creates clear, business-relevant benefits for the partner. The system is based on Siemens’ technology portfolio: SICHARGE D chargers, energy meters and the SICAM/EGS ecosystem provide a stable, industrial-grade infrastructure. This is complemented by evosoft’s innovative added value: advanced PLC logic and a modern, Mendix-based energy management interface that elevates monitoring, optimization and transparency to a new level.
The end result is a green, cost-efficient and scalable solution that can be easily adapted to different customer requirements and serves as a real-world example of how the energy system of the future works in practice. We have named this solution the MicroGrid system.
MicroGrid becomes truly exciting when it is presented not as a collection of technologies, but as the story of a living, working system. The outcome of the Siemens – evosoft–SLR Solar collaboration is exactly that: an intelligent, autonomous infrastructure that reorganizes a site’s everyday energy flows and demonstrates in real situations how the future of energy management operates.
Comprehensive system supervision is provided by a modern, cloud-based (Mendix) dashboard, through which operators can precisely track alerts, trends and energy flow statistics.
Even if the internet connection is interrupted, the MicroGrid system continues to operate seamlessly: its local control does not wait for external signals but independently maintains operation, ensuring uninterrupted supply for critical loads and chargers. During outages, the local architecture temporarily stores generated data and automatically synchronizes it to the cloud once connectivity is restored, ensuring that statistics remain complete. The cloud-based dashboard, with its modern Mendix interface, provides alerts, statistics, trends and data analytics to help operators clearly understand when, where and how much energy is flowing through the system.
The integrated monitoring of Siemens SICHARGE D chargers has delivered further practical benefits. Site operators can view charger status, load and energy consumption on a single interface, as well as how charging fits into the overall MicroGrid optimization. This level of transparency and coordinated operation is especially valuable where charging infrastructure is business-critical.
All of this together proves that the MicroGrid pilot is not a concept or a laboratory demonstration, but a ready-to-show, customer-relevant solution.
